the signature sea state surf mentorship
june 15 – september 7

3-month online surf mentorship mastermind to deepen your connection to the water, turn your surfing into a creative practice, and define your vision for an ocean-centered life.

Rebuild your relationship to the ocean + find your signature surf style.

We’ve been taught that surfing is a super competitive, secret club or an aesthetic people have commercialized to the point where it has lost it’s soul... But what if we could choose a deeper connection to the art of surfing? What if our surf practice was rooted in our love for the ocean? Imagine if every surf came from that state of calm, connected, creative flow. Not fighting or proving, but self-expression. When we approach the ocean from love instead of a demand, we regulate ourselves - and regulated people surf better.

The ocean life you want isn't a copy paste formula. It's something you build from trusting in your vision, through a creative collaboration between you and the water. It’s an intentional relationship you build with the waves. A dance of self-trust + presence with nature.

we're not saving the ocean. the ocean is saving us

001
anchor into your vision + surf intentions, finally allow yourself to dream big in a supportive group of women with the same goals as you

002
learn the foundations of reading the ocean + surf style. meet your highest self through mindset work plus technique coaching with one of the world’s best surfers

003
apply it to your unique lifestyle + build a sustainable ocean practice. go beyond surfing to create a roadmap that makes ocean devotion a ritual

You've tried the tutorials. you've watched the clip breakdowns. You know what a cutback should feel like + you can endlessly scroll through the perfect noserides. But you’re still not sure what’s between you and the vision you have for your surfing and style…

Here's what you do know: the moment of truth isn't in your stance or your timing. It's the second of hesitation before you pop up (or before you even paddle out). The apology before you even take your place in the lineup. The overthinking when someone's watching. The way you shrink in a crowd instead of finding the spaciousness within it. The spiral after a bad session. The comparison to every surfer who moves with an ease you can feel but can't seem to access…

You've been trying to build a devoted, soulful practice while constantly surfing for an invisible audience.

And that's exhausting. It's not a problem with your surfing. It's a problem of not being present with nature. Rediscover the joy of playing in the ocean + let the medicine of water allow you to feel free to fully express yourself.

ocean devotion (devocean)

learn the foundations of surf technique to finally express your surfing like art

true style is a creative expression, not a forced practice. it's what happens when you stop performing + start collaborating with the waves. when your self-trust is so rooted in devotion to the ocean that you can slow down time for yourself, on a wave + in the lineup.

your surf anchor is the deep, non-negotiable reason you paddle out, the one that holds when conditions are bad, when fear is high, when the session is hard. it’s your vision, it’s your why. learning to trust that reason is the highest form of surf education. it's what separates someone who catches waves to someone who surfs with style, flow + purpose.

this requires oceanography, gear knowledge, wave selection, technique + mindset work, and a deep dive into the inner lineup of your own mind. it's a relationship you develop in co-creation with the ocean over a lifetime.

and that's what ocean devotion means. relearning your relationship with the ocean to uncover your surf style and the tools to continue developing that over a lifetime.

we are quite literally building a deeply personal, intimate relationship with the waves so we can be present in the lineup. that's how your surfing finally becomes the creative expression it was always supposed to be.

the future of surfing isn't performance. it's devotion.

this program exists to make being in the ocean feel like second nature - so the surfing follows from your love for the ocean not the societal pressure for external validation.

most surf programs are built for one of two people: the total beginner or the surfer prepping for a competition. if you're somewhere in the middle… already in love with the ocean, already caught your first waves, but still feeling like the surfing you crave is just out of reach… you've probably noticed there's not a lot available for you. it’s frustrating and leads to an endless cycle of doubt that feels like you’re stuck in a plateau + keeps you out of the water.

i know exactly what that feels like.

the way your throat tightens before a session. the overthinking and trying to prove ourselves without any idea what direction you’re going. the way you make yourself smaller in the lineup without even realizing it. the spiral of negative thoughts that disconnect you from your love for the ocean.

you've been quietly wanting something different. a group of people who are actually kind + compassionate, while pushing each other to achieve our dreams + get outside our comfort zone. a place to keep deepening your surf practice that doesn't require proving yourself first.

that place doesn't exist yet. that's what ocean devotion is for.

it's for the surfer who doesn’t see their love for the ocean reflected in mainstream surf culture. the one who is already committed to deepening their connection to the waves + building their surf practice. the surfer who has been quietly waiting for somewhere to keep growing, alongside people who are doing the same thing.

you already know how it feels when you’re in the waves + everything flows. the life-affirming joy of catching a wave.

stop waiting to build a life around that feeling.

the gap you keep hitting isn't just technique

here's what you think the problem is: technique. not enough sessions. or that you started surfing too late.

here's what it actually is: you've been taught to treat an act of devotion + creative expression like a performance review.

if technique was the whole answer, then surfing wouldn't be the hardest sport in the world.

the gap between you + the surfer you dream of being — the one who moves with effortless flow, whose surfing feels like art — isn't a technical gap. it's an understanding gap.

the real issue is how you've been connecting to the ocean + how you've been building your surf practice. you don't yet have the tools, the knowledge, or the community to shift that.

that's what ocean devotion is for.

surfing is our portal to the natural world, join us.

ocean devotion is the practice of connecting to your vision, anchoring into your intentions, learning the fundamentals of how to read waves, developing strong technique foundations, and building trust + intimacy with the ocean. This is the practice from which your signature surf style is born.

you can keep hitting the same invisible ceiling… the one that keeps you stuck in self-doubt, or worse - out of the water…

or you can give yourself 12 weeks to remember why you fell in love with the ocean in the first place. to master reading waves. to learn the foundations of good technique. to build a surf life you actually LOVE.

you already know how it good it feels when a wave opens up + everything clicks.

stop waiting to build a life around that feeling.

The feedback and coaching have been great because I want to surf just like Maddy haha, and her tips have been on point and super clear. I’ve been in other coaching programs where the feedback feels really general. It was so fulfilling. I know I’ll be friends with them for life. Big statement, I know, but I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t truly feel that way!

I would describe it as a more than successful experience. I got some really great tips for improving my surfing skills, exactly what I needed. I also learned a ton about surfboards, loved it. But honestly, my favorite part was meeting new friends who I clicked with right away (and have been hanging out with even after the program ended), which is not easy these days. I really enjoyed the online meetups (even felt so much fomo about missing one due to travels haha ☹️), and I can’t wait to go on a surf trip with them in a month!!

Before I wasn’t sure how to improve my style. Now I’m going on my first surf trip with a group of girlfriends. Now I know exactly what I need to practice to improve and I have a supportive surf community around me.

Get ready to have really fulfilling conversations with girls about surfing and enjoy surf sessions unlike any you’ve experienced before. (I’ve never felt so comfortable, both in and out of the water, with another group). But most importantly, you are about to meet friends for life while getting the best tips to improve your surfing style!

Just do it. You won’t regret it. It’s a really special community, and Maddy and Timmy’s skills complement each other so well that they create the most comprehensive surf program and surf conversations I’ve ever been part of. And you’ll probably meet friends for life, too!!”

It felt like a supportive little family! Truly such a safe place to come as you are & dive deeper into your surfing in a way that is tailor fit for you. I felt zero judgement - I felt very understood, and fell in love with the community of gals sea state brought to the table!

Almost like a reset button for my surf journey in the best way possible. The feedback would leave me feeling more encouraged than before, because Maddy & Timmy would give such practical advice that really helped things click in my mind. The coaching I received from Sea State was so helpful, personable, and encouraging. I felt empowered to trust myself and was given so many practical technique tools - which helped my confidence so much. The community felt so refreshing!

Before sea state … I adored surfing but was simultaneously feeling this intense roadblock in my progression in technique as well as confidence level. I was really struggling to put words to what I felt I needed in order to progress and feel more mentally strong out in the water. After sea state… I adore surfing and have truly noticed such a new level of confidence out in the water. I felt like I was able to map out my surfing physically and mentally - and now feel equipped with the tools I needed to help push me forward!

You’re about to not only have some really fun surf days with some incredible women, but you are also going to be given the space to look inward, reflect, imagine, and really explore the blueprints of your surfing. Also you’ll get to feel so understood in so many conversations with like-minded gals. You will be stoked to get some more confidence & incredible new friends <3

Do it! Do it for you! It was truly so much more than just coaching - it’s a community that embraces you, hears you, and supports you wherever you are in your surf journey.”

Being supported from Sea State felt empowering, encouraging, and genuine. Maddy created an environment where I felt safe to challenge myself, make mistakes, and grow both in and out of the water. The support wasn’t just about becoming a better surfer, it was about building confidence, trusting myself, and feeling like I had a community cheering me on every step of the way.

The feedback and coaching always felt thoughtful, personalized, and uplifting. Maddy (and Timmy) has a way of helping you see what’s possible. The community/ women was one of my favorite parts of the experience. Being surrounded by such supportive, inspiring women made me feel welcomed, encouraged, and connected.

Before Sea State: I wanted to improve my surfing, but I was also looking for more confidence and connection. I often doubted myself in the water surrounded by mostly men. I knew I loved surfing but I was feeling a little stuck on how to get better. After Sea State: I feel more confident in the water and more confident in myself. I have a better understanding of surfing & where I should be in the lineup. But more importantly, I’ve gained a supportive community and a stronger belief in my own abilities & a greater understanding of ocean knowledge!

You are about to gain more than surfing skills. You’re about to build confidence, learn to trust yourself & meet incredible women.

Doooooooo it!!!!!! Sea State is so much more than a surf program. You’ll improve your surfing, but you’ll also gain confidence, support, and an incredible community of women. Maddy is an amazing coach who truly cares about every person in the program. If you’re considering it, trust yourself and say yes & you won’t regret it.”

This is a 12-week online group surf mentorship + course for women ready to stop overthinking + start building a soulful, expressive relationship with the ocean.

What this work actually helps you become:

you trade in performing for an invisible audience + start expressing yourself creatively on every wave.

you develop an authentic surf style that is unmistakably yours. a conversation with the ocean, not an imitation.

you move through the lineup with a foundational confidence that creates space for you, instead of apologizing for existing in the water..

you can read a forecast, read waves, and read your own experience.

you start making your whole surf practice intentional.

you become the surfer you've been waiting to be! the one who surfs like it’s second nature, for a reason far deeper than just external validation.

you walk away with a practice that is an act of devotion, making the ocean a source of medicine, not just a sport. A practice to take with you for life. A comfortability in the water that belongs to you.

Meet Maddy

Six years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic health condition that forced me to completely transform my relationship with surfing. Until then I'd been a competitive longboarder, a marine biologist, a scientific diver, a sailor who'd spent a decade living on her boat. I knew how to be in the water. But I didn't know how to BE with the water- not without feeling like I had to prove something. The diagnosis took the proving away + showed me what really matters in life - ocean devotion.

I use to be so self conscious about surfing in front of people I would literally freeze. I use to talk myself out of surfing because I thought I might fail before I even tried. I spent years angry + frustrated that I couldn’t shortboard even though I grew up longboarding. Now I whisper sweet nothings to the waves when I bottom turn, go straight on a set wave in honor of my ancestors, and turn my dreams into reality with the support of my seasters.

After chasing credentials + external validation, I feel so free to express myself when I surf. That feeling, that level of freedom, is how ocean devotion became my life’s work. That’s the transformation I want you to experience, a connection to the ocean that runs so deep, it becomes the healing of our planet.

Meet Timmy Reyes

Co-coach and professional surfer

Timmy's my husband and a professional surfer. He's also in touch with his feminine side enough to thrive in this space. He brings a completely different technical lens—especially for reading complex conditions, progressing to bigger waves, and refining mechanics.

Timmy has surfed at the world championship level, reaching 11th in the world before leaving it all to become a free-surfer before the word “free-surfer” was even a thing. Timmy is known for chasing big, cold barrels with no one around, not for validation or even a paycheck, but out of devotion to the ocean.

Not everyone gets to work with one of the best and most barreled surfers in the world. I couldn’t be more excited to share my surf coach who changed my life with one sentence “I’m not here to impress anyone, I’m here for the ocean.” I only started shortboarding 7 years ago, and thanks to Timmy I finally surf the way I’ve always dreamed of. I can’t wait to share my surf coach with you.

Read his Surfer’s Journal article here

Having the support of Sea State completely changed how I surf and how I think about surfing. The support from Sea State transformed my relationship to the ocean where I once showed up with fear and lack of trust I now can say that I show up with confidence and a deeper sense of trust in myself.

The community I gained from Sea State was one of the most cherished parts for me. Having the support of women and feeling the ability to share vulnerabilities has had such an impact in my love for surfing and the ocean. What I learned from coaching I’ve put into practice every time I’m out in the water and my nervous system has been responding.

Before Sea State I was struggling silently and alone. I was going on 3 years of dealing with the mental block of fear and low confidence in my surfing. I was so stuck and felt like I had no way of moving forward on my own.

After Sea State I feel like I now have the confidence to help push myself in the direction I want to go, but I also feel like I have support for the times I need some help outside of myself.

There are so many benefits to what is given through Sea State. Whether you are looking for mental progress, technical progress, or just a community of like minded ocean lovers, Sea State provides.”

you're here because one (or more) of these is true:

"i've been in the water long enough to know what flow state feels like — but i can't consistently tap into it."

"i want to longboard with actual style, not just movement. i dream of noseriding with ease."

"i'm stuck in the gap between my longboard + a shorter board like a fish or midlength + can't figure out the translation."

“i know i have a signature surf style but it’s not translating to my shortboard

"i'm confident in life. hesitant in the lineup. + i can't figure out why."

"i'm tired of feeling like an outsider in surfing. i'm ready to build a lifelong practice around the ocean."

"i know my ceiling isn't just technique. it's something mental or emotional i can't name."

"i want to build a lifestyle that supports my surfing — not just squeeze sessions in."

"i want to be part of a group of women who will support + celebrate me in the water."

this is not for you if:

you want overnight results without putting in the practice.

you want drills without any reflection on how you actually relate to the ocean.

you don't celebrate inclusivity in neurodivergence, physical capabilities + diversity in the lineup.

you're looking for competition prep. (reach out for private coaching)

"before sea state, i was surfing without clarity. i'd paddle out without a plan, make the same mistakes, battle for waves, and leave feeling frustrated — like a bad surfer. it felt like my surfing had a ceiling i couldn't break through.

after sea state, i surf with intention + more self-trust. i go into sessions with actual goals, my wave count is up, my maneuvers are improving, and i leave smiling because i can see real progress. sea state didn't just change my surfing. it changed the way that i show up for it."

if i could tell someone who found sea state i would say "you can finally stop searching for her why, heranchor. you're about to remember it."

— lauren sharabianlou

product marketer, surfline + sea state community manager

"Sea state, was an incredible community space where I felt seen for the first time within lots of my struggles with surfing. It was the first time I wasn’t met with the ‘just send it’ mentality, but instead felt like I could spiritually work through some of the things that were getting in the way of my progress.

It felt really intentional, kind, and collaborative. Not just like this is my own mental load to take on but one I can now carry because of the support.

Before sea state, I would run out into the surf, and feel rushed. I was worried about performing and really hard on myself. I started pushing myself too far past my comfort zone at times. After sea state, I started to allow more flow into my life and take my time getting out there, practicing mindfulness, and intention.

If you have felt stuck, and are open to joining a community of women who are experiencing similar feelings - join. It can be really empowering to enter a space where you can be yourself, and work through the walls we all hit when we are trying to improve at a sport that isn’t consistent.

You’re about to understand your relationship to the surf better, and with yourself. It’s 100% worth it. Joining Sea State will facilitate rediscovering the joy and purpose for getting out there.
