Ocean Devotion Retreat: Galápagos
Nine days in one of the last truly wild places left on earth.
Sea lions asleep on the sand next to you. Marine iguanas swimming past your surfboard like it's nothing. Galapagueños who grew up on this water teaching us about the ocean.
One of the greatest conservation stories of all time. A portal to a land where humans and nature live as one.
The best way to experience the Galápagos is from the water. Over nine days, we’ll spend our time exploring by boat, surfing different coastlines, free diving, snorkeling, and looking for the wildlife that makes these islands so extraordinary.
We’ll take 14 boat trips throughout the week — from small daily excursions to longer adventures along the North Coast.
❋ Experience the Galapagos❋ Local KnowledgeLocal legend Eddie Salazar was the first person to run surf tours in the Galápagos and has spent years exploring these islands. With his knowledge, we’ll go beyond the obvious and experience the Galápagos from the perspective of people who know and love this place.
There are waves you can only reach by boat. We’ll explore them all with Eddie, a national Ecuadorian surf champion and one of our best friends. He even flew to our wedding and regularly shows John John Florence around the islands.
This trip is built around a simple idea: the ocean is the reason we’re here.
We’ll spend our days in and around the water- surfing, diving, exploring, and learning from the people who know and love these islands.
This is ocean adventure in its truest form. Surf, dive, explore, learn, and let the place shape the experience.
❋ Ocean DevotionEvery single day is an adventure — we’ll surf, explore, and get deep into the wild side of the Galápagos. Chase waves along different coastlines, jump in the water with sea lions, free dive, snorkel, explore new islands and discover what’s around the next corner.
There’s no rigid itinerary designed to keep you moving from one attraction to the next. We’ll spend our days on the water, following the waves, the wildlife, the conditions, and whatever adventure the day brings.
❋ Surf + Snorkel Adventuresomething has happened to the way we look at nature
We call a place wild when there's a trailhead and a sign about it. We call a break uncrowded when it's only fifteen people instead of fifty. Every wave worth surfing has been found, forecasted, geotagged, and turned into a lineup within a season of someone posting it. Every wild place has a boardwalk to it now, or will soon.
Somewhere along the way we got used to nature with the edges softened, managed, shared, and we forgot what it actually feels like when it isn't.
Surfing somewhere truly untouched, genuinely uncrowded, where nobody's discovered it, barely exists anymore.
There’s a version of you that fell in love with the ocean before any of this.
Before the pressure. Before the career. Before the crowded lineups. Before we had less and less time for the ocean.
That’s the part of you this trip is for.
Because the Galápagos still feels like the kind of place you imagined when you first fell in love with the ocean — wild, unfamiliar, full of things you’ve never seen before. You’ll surf waves you can only reach by boat, swim with sea lions, dive into clear water, and spend your days exploring a world that feels completely alive.
It’s a chance to reconnect with that curious, adventurous part of yourself — the one who didn’t need a reason to get in the water other than wanting to see what was out there.
Surfing + exploring somewhere truly wild, genuinely uncrowded, where you can still feel like you’ve entered a place rather than arrived at an attraction, barely exists anymore.
who this is for
The surfer who wants more than another surf trip.
You want good waves, obviously. But you also want to disappear into somewhere unfamiliar. To surf, dive, explore, get dirty, get sunburned, see things you’ve never seen before, and come home feeling like you actually went somewhere.
The one who feels most like themselves in nature.
You don't necessarily need another wellness retreat or a packed itinerary. You want to spend nine days outside, in the ocean, around wildlife, and somewhere that still feels genuinely wild.
The one who loves animals more than most people.
This was built for you first.
The photographer or the creative who wants to document nature.
An actual wild place doing what it does whether you're pointing a camera at it or not.
The one who needs to unplug, but not with another spa retreat.
This is unplugging by way of sea lions and ocean devotion.
The free diver or snorkeler who has to check this one off their bucket list. Spoiler alert: it’s unreal.
Your Crew
I've spent years turning my relationship with the ocean into a career — something to document, perform, and monetize. Good things. Things I'm proud of. But somewhere in there, I started loving the ocean through a viewfinder instead of through my own skin.
The Galápagos has shaped the way the world understands conservation, evolution, and our relationship with the natural world. It’s a place where you can still see how deeply everything is connected — the ocean, the animals, the people, and the land.
And I don't think it's a coincidence that one of the places that taught us so much about the wild world is also one of the last places where the wild world hasn't been completely tamed out of.

Timmy Reyes
Timmy Reyes is coming as our photographer, the whole trip, every day, shooting the water, our group, the wildlife, and the surf. Plus he’s our pro-surfer water safety team for all surf + ocean support!
Timmy Reyes will be with us for all nine days to get the best surf and capture it all.
Rumor has it he’s gotten the biggest barrel in the Galapagos.
Photographer + Surf Guide, pro surfer
Eddie is a former national surfing champion and a diver with over 1000 dives on the Galapagos started to provide his surfing and spots knowledge to passing by surfers in 1995 and eventually offered some of the first surf tours on the Galapagos. Since then, surfers have been able to enjoy not only the great galapaguenian waves but also enjoy one of the most amazing national parks in the world. He runs Amangala Surf Co, a small, family owned operation based on the Galapagos islands with over 20 years experience in showing and sharing this magical place that we also call home. (And Eddie came to our wedding! oh yea and he’s the guy who shows John John and Nate Florence around!)

Come with us and find out what the Galápagos is all about.
I can’t tell you everything that’s going to happen out there. Some of it I don’t know yet either.
That’s kind of the point of going.
Come get in the water with us. Come explore. Come make the kind of memories you’ll still be talking about years from now.

FAQ’s
-
This is a 9-day, small-group adventure through the Galápagos, built around surfing, exploring, wildlife, and ocean time. We’ll have a general plan, but the exact day-to-day schedule will follow the waves, weather, wildlife, and conditions.
-
Yes this trip is co-ed! Bring your partners, bring your friends!
-
We’ll surf a variety of waves around the islands, with conditions changing throughout the trip. Some waves are only accessible by boat, and we’ll choose where to surf based on the conditions and the group. That said our number one priority is to always make sure you score the best waves for the day, everyday. Expect to be surfed out in a very, very good way.
-
Flights to and from the Galápagos, tips, lunch and dinner ($8–20 delicious options in the walkable, charming town, with dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian-friendly options), additional nature tours, board rentals, dive gear rentals, surf lessons, the national park entrance fee, and travel insurance are not included.
-
Surfboards are available to rent, but we recommend bringing your own if you can. Snorkel gear is also available to rent, though we recommend bringing your own mask and fins as well if you can!
-
Yup, me too! The good news is you get to do both basically all the time. And if you want to add more tours, you can through our co-host and local tour operator, Eddie. We’ll always make sure you get the best conditions for every surf + nature adventure we have planned. Expect to be able to walk to insane beaches, see wildlife constantly, and be able to hop on a boat and surf pretty much whenever you want.
-
You don’t need to be an advanced surfer, but you should feel comfortable catching your own waves, reading a lineup, and paddling out independently. If you’re newer to surfing or would feel more comfortable with some extra help, there are incredible local surf schools that offer lessons and rental boards.
-
Perfect. That’s part of the point. We’ll be there to guide you, introduce you to the place, and show you the Galápagos beyond what you could experience on your own.
-
Once you book, we’ll connect you with Eddie, our local co-host and tour operator, who can help you with flights and getting everything organized for your trip. You’ll also be added to the Galápagos WhatsApp group chat, where you can connect with the crew and get updates as we get closer. And of course, you can always reach out to me with any questions along the way.
-
We’re keeping the group intimate, with a maximum of 8 participants.
